Joe Godsey races to runner-up finish in Hell Tour stop at Circle City
On Wednesday afternoon Roth Motorsports followed the DIRTcar Summer Nationals to Joe Godsey’s home-state of Indiana to Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.) for the $5,000 prize. In a field of 25 cars, Joe locked his spot into the A-Main with a fourth-place finish in his heat while Roth had to resort to a provisional after sitting out his B-Main. Utilizing the bottom groove, Godsey raced to an impressive runner-up finish in the 40-lapper, which came behind Bobby Pierce. Spencer Hughes, Tanner English, and Rusty Schlenk completed the Top-5 finishers. Jeff gained four spots to finish 16th. (Jim DenHamer photo)
On Thursday evening as the tour entered the Wolverine State at Thunderbird Raceway (Muskegon, Mich.), Godsey edged his way into the show with a third-place finish in his heat while Jeff finished seventh. He went on to take a provisional into the feature and logged a 21st-place outing. Joe held his spot for all 40 laps to place 11th.
After Friday’s event at Hartford Speedway (Hartford, Mich.) rained out, Roth Motorsports trekked to Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, Ohio) on Saturday afternoon for the 23rd annual Birthday Race. Drawing a stout field of 53 cars, Joe secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat while Jeff was forced to take a provisional into the show. Roth pulled off on the fourth lap while Godsey faded two spots in the 50-lapper to register a ninth-place finish.
