Roth finishes seventh at Knox County; Godsey notches fifth-place finish in Farmer City's Hell Tour visit
Roth Motorsports returned with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Tuesday afternoon as the mini-series invaded Knox County Raceway (Knoxville, Ill.) to compete on the half-mile oval. With 22 Late Models entered, Jeff posted a sixth-place finish in his heat while Joe came in seventh. Roth improved 10 spots in the 30-lap feature to finish seventh while Godsey pulled off on lap six. On Wednesday evening at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), both drivers were forced to take a provisional into the show after failing to qualify for the feature via preliminary events. With $5,000 on the line, Godsey passed eight cars to register a 12th-place finish while Roth finished 15th.
For the 41st annual Herald & Review 100 on Thursday evening at Macon Speedway (Macon, Ill.), Joe edged his way into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat while competed in his heat but scratched from his B-Main. Godsey was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on lap 27.
The following night at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.), Godsey timed in sixth fastest in his group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Jeff Roth’s night was over after placing 13th in his B-Main. With the redraw placing Godsey fourth on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Joe dropped one spot to register a fifth-place finish. He followed Shannon Babb, McKay Wenger, Garrett Alberson, and Brian Shirley to the checkers.
Both Saturday and Sunday’s action at Highland (Ill.) Speedway and Tri-State Speedway (Haubstadt, Indiana) fell victim to rain.
